due to having a small, wonderful and rapidly growing child around (and my gorgeous wife too), the timeline for the digital ep “audiopacifier” has been pushed back some. my apologies! work is still happening but family does come first - and the tragic thing is that while im working on “audiopacifier” i end up discovering a beat or sound that fits into my side project called “jetstream blues” so work ends up getting done on both but neither end up nearing completion. so… im working on purchasing a small piece of kit to speed up my workflow in making this music and i plan on setting more time aside for it. i promise more clips and songs on this site soon and im still very excited about getting this music out.

“what have has he been listening to lately?” you may wonder and that is a good question. on my drive into work ive been listening to old school jazz, sinatra and big band like crazy and while in the office ive been utilising http://last.fm to discover new music. john mayer, imogen heap, sarah barielles, damien rice, bt, muse, paul van dyk and many more have all graced my ears as of late. ive been determined to fight the urge to get pigeon holed into one genre.

and finally- here is my son evan and i having a quality father and son moment:

are you interested in being one of 25 people who will get to audition my coming ep “audiopacifier”? if so, i am working on the track list and creating basic edits of all the tracks and will email the entire album in mp3 form including front and back cover art jpegs to the first 25 people who email me with “audiopacifier” at josh@contimedia.us

the deadline is may 25th. one email is all that is needed, i will ignore multiple emails from the same address! all i ask of the 25 who receive the album is a straightforward, no holds barred assesment of the music and the promise that they will tell everyone they can about it. i’ll do my best to let you know if you dont make it into the 25 but i make no promises. all valid emails in my inbox by may 25th who dont make the 25 cut will recieve one track of my choosing.

interested? just put “audiopacifier” in the subject line and send it to:  josh@contimedia.us

as a gift to my sister - in - law for her wedding, i composed a song for her to walk down the isle to.  after deliberating on what to write,  i twittered this and my friend @stutterglitch ( be sure to visit his myspace ) offered to add his take on whatever i came up with. this gave me a nice shot in the arm and i set to tracking the original melody in Reason. after sending the piano part to him, he sent back a great interpretation of my theme complete with subtle strings and “whimsical” (for lack of better term) toy piano-esqe lead. it really opened up the song and put a whole new bent on it. taking his track and my track, i blended the two into what you’ll hear here. i am ever the advocate of finding cheap and out of the box ways to do things so i mixed the tracks in a very cool audio program called Reaper. If you’ve used Cubase or Sony Acid Pro, Reaper will feel familiar to you. (some day soon i’ll be into ProTools!) the final result is the track posted here. -its in mp3 so there may be some degeneration of quality.- what will be played at the wedding will actually be a custom mix of the 2 tracks designed to fit the ceremony. much thanks to @stutterglitch for the great contribution. enjoy! click to play:  a-new-beginning-copyright-2009-joshua-clifford-conti-bmi-and-ed-lewis-mp3

hey all- im continuing work on tracks for audiopacifier. finding time is the battle in completing all the ideas i have tracked out!

this project is a big departure for me as i am really toning down the amount of sounds and textures i usually add to my tracks in favour of simple, organic notes. the intent for audiopacifer is to create an album my soon to be born son can listen to while he sleeps but still find relevance and worth for any listener of any age. i hope whoever listens finds peace and calm through this album. stay tuned! and email me with any questions or thoughts- josh@contimedia.us

things are happening at apm…

my wife and i are moving the end of this month to a bigger place… to make room for our son who is due in april… which means the studio is slowly getting packed up.

conrad from inertia sound studios stopped by earlier this month to borrow the wurlitzer for a recording project (check his music out- good stuff and an awesome recording studio).

im continuing work on audiopacifier-intermittently until the move is done!- im hoping to add some screen shots from my reason sessions soon, maybe even some audio samples.

more updates to follow in february. be sure to read my blog or follow me on twitter in the meantime!     -josh@contimedia.us
